    Your Car Is   Not Safe.

This scenario may seem outrageous.   Not so.
Your car may be a child trap waiting to happen.   Most 4-door cars are.

For years nearly all 4-door Sedans, SUV's and similar motor vehicles have been equipped with a well intentioned Safety Device that was originally designed to increase the passenger safety of your car under normal conditions.   However, after an accident your 4-door vehicle becomes dangerously UNSAFE for any rear-seat passengers, such as your children and even adults.   The offending safety device is the common "Childproof" Safety Lock included on the rear doors of nearly every sedan or sport utility vehicle.   Once the "child-proof" lock is "set", no child or adult caught in the back seat of the vehicle after an accident can get out ... no matter what happens.

Your car's Child Safety Lock does its job well.   In fact it does the job all too well.   A Child Safety Lock prevents an accidental opening of the rear door Before and During an accident. That is what it is supposed to do.   A child safety lock is very good at keeping your child safe from falling out of the car.   The PROBLEM with Child Safety Locks is that they also prevent your child or other rear-seat passenger from being able to Open the door and get out of the car Immediately After an accident or other emergency occurs.   It blocks the trapped child or other back seat rider from getting out of the car during those critical few moments after a collision occurs.

YOUR CAR IS SAFE ... BEFORE AN ACCIDENT
IS YOUR CAR SAFE ... AFTER AN ACCIDENT???
YOUR CAR IS SAFE ... DURING AN ACCIDENT

Everyone ... Auto Safety Experts ... Child Safety Experts ... Parents ... seem to be highly concerned with passenger safety Before and During an accident.   No One seems to give a damn what happens in the few moments Right After a Collision.   All the car makers seem to ignore what happens to victims immediately   After an Accident   when quick escape from a car can make a big difference in the accident's outcome.   Instead they are dangerously trapped behind "Safely Protected" Child Safety Lock doors that can not be opened from the inside.   It is what happens Right After the Accident that can mean the difference between Life and Death for the Trapped Victim.

It is during those few precious moments right After a Collision that a Mother driving or riding in the front seat may get out of the wrecked car and frantically try to get to her Small Child or infant who is "Safely Strapped into a Car Seat" and properly riding in the back seat.   The back door won't open.   The back door can not be opened.   The Child Safety Lock has been "Set".

After an accident, it is not uncommon for a wrecked car to be leaking fuel.   Gasoline is highly inflammable and any spark might set it off.   Explosion may occur.   If the Child Safety Lock remains "safely set" after the accident, your Child or other passenger will remain trapped in the burning car.

You may ask:   Why not simply open the door from the outside and release the trapped passenger right after the crash.   Even an onlooker could do this.   Sorry! Won't Happen.   Modern cars are equipped with manual or electric door locks which disable the outside door latch handles, making the car doors impossible to open from outside of the car.   The problem may be even bigger.   The INSIDE door latch is already disabled by the Child Safety Lock.   The OUTSIDE door latch is disabled by the manual or electric door locks.   The trapped child may not understand how to "unlock" the rear door lock (usually a "lock button").   The trapped passenger may have become too stunned, shaken-up or simply far too confused by the collision to realize his predicament.   Panic sets in, especially if there is fire.   The trapped child or passenger becomes a victim of a well meant and widely used Safety Device ... the Child Safety Lock.

Before April 20, 1999 This Safety Problem may have been a Design Oversight.
Since April 20, 1999 This Child Killer Safety Defect is Wanton Negligence.
FIND OUT WHY

There is a solution to this Deadly flaw in your car's Child Safety Lock.   Any car maker could include an "accident responsive release" that simply unlocks the Child Safety Lock whenever the Car is involved in a collision.   Your Child could quickly get-out and away from the burning car.   Quickly.   Easily.   At this time, no car maker has included this Safe Door Release in even their newest designs.   The $COST$ to Include this urgently needed Safety Feature is about the cost of providing an additional cigarette lighter.   Let's face it:   Once Again Passenger Safety Remains Ignored, no matter what the advertisements or salespersons say.

Make sure your dealer Knows that you are concerned about this potential danger inherent in your new car.   When You go car-shopping, let your dealer know you are looking for a car with a "Safe" Child Safety Lock that automatically releases after an accident.   For the dealer to deliberately try to sell you a vehicle without an automatic child lock release shows he may have little regard for what is right ... particularly where the SAFETY of YOUR CHILD is concerned!

UnSafe 4-Door Cars
Automobiles and SUVs Which May be Equipped with Rear-Door Child Safety Lock Which may be "Set" by the Driver to prevent the accidental opening of the Rear-Door by a child or other passenger. As a result, the inside rear door latch handle is rendered inoperative and the rear door may only be opened from outside the vehicle using the outside rear door latch handle. Ordinarily, this Child Safety Lock is in a "set" or "unset" state. The device's control is usually located on the edge of the rear door and only accessible for changing the setting state when the rear door is open.

Car makers may not have been aware of the deadly Safety defect built into Child Safety Locks. The fact that Child Safety Locks keep a rear door of a car or SUV from being openable immediately after an accident is the basic fault.   This was probably not an obvious problem and one which may have been merely an oversight.

  On April 20,1999 ... U.S.Patent No. 5,894,906 Was Issued

This patent serves to MAKE PUBLIC the KNOWLEDGE that the Child Safety Lock used on nearly all 4-door cars and SUVs, regardless of maker, have an inherent life-threatening defect which comes into play immediately AFTER an automobile is involved in an accident.   By its very nature, a patent "makes public" whatever it discusses.   In this patent, the inherent dangers of existing Child Safety Lock devices are thoroughly discussed together with a suggested solution to the problem.     Since April 20, 1999 the Car Makers have been made Aware of this Safety Defect inherent in every rear door Child Safety Lock system.

A "publication" of the problem occurs merely through the patent's issuance. Any car maker who     does not provide an automatic way to defeat the Child Safety Lock   in quick and immediate response to an accident   demonstrates sheer negligence and an outright lack of concern   regarding your child's safety.   If you have interest in your child's well-being in your next car purchase, demand that your car dealer provides you with an automatic child lock release. While little attention has been paid to this provision through a lack of concern by auto makers, it is equivalent in importance to the attention paid to seat belts, air bags and car seats as they relate to small children. In particular, this feature becomes an important safeguard AFTER an accident occurs, when fire and subsequential collision is most apt to happen.
